Speaking Up, Speaking Out
Wales Arts Review have created an event name ‘Speaking Up, Speaking Out’
Thankfully, to my friend Beth House who is the development director and co-founder of Taking Flight Theatre has mentioned this event to me. I was very keen on finding out more so I went along and found out about it some more.
The workshop I completed was a ‘lyrics music’. The main person who taught me and some others is Jason Camilleri. The reasoned I did it is because I have a passion for music and love song writing. I am also quite interested in a game we played which is called the rhyming game. The way the game works is Jason said a word and each of us have to say a different word that rhymes with it. One word Jason said one word, which doesn’t seem to have one that rhyme with it!!!! As I felt quite challenged, I had to think quickly of a word before saying it. It is a fun game that often creates new and interesting challenges. Jason also explained how to find an associating word, as many as possible, before starting. It helped me in learning how to form a proper structure when writing as well as rhyme.
It was a good experience and opportunity for me to attend an event and to join in on some workshops and meet some great and vibrant new people as well as some familiar faces. It was there I learned how to work with professional writers and artists.
Speaking Up, speaking Out is supported by Youth Arts Network Cymru, Taking Flight Theatre Company and The Riverfront, and by a sharing together grant from Arts Council Wales.
