Drama for Screen & Audition Technique Workshop

Now In A Minute is an award winning, based in Cardiff, production company that specialise in creating the bespoke actor showreels, monologues, self tapes and film. Sean Rhys-James is a Welsh actor and founder of Now In A Minute, which was created with the aim to give a stronger voice to Welsh actors in the industry.  

Julian Lewis Jones is a Welsh actor. Also, drama for Film and TV, working on film and TV work, and is well known in Justice League, House of the Dragon, The Eagle, and Invictus. 

Amazingly, I attended this workshop event, Drama for Screen & Audition Technique Workshop. These were for actors or people who are keen to get involved in the actor community. So perfect for me! My aim is to focus on dramatic acting for screen, and also audition techniques that Julian teaches, gives tips and advice to help understand how to make a successful actor.

I have met a lovely group of people and we were given a script and we act it out. The first scene, I gave it a go, then the second scene, I redid it but this time, julian gave me feedback on how to improve, make it better, to correct and offer direction to deliver a dramatic impact for each scene and the type of character to use. So, I did two hander scenes.

Lastly, after lunch break, I was given the script that I had not seen, so Julian offered to talk me through how the self-tape works, give advice and tips and approach an audition and also tips for me to look out for, which I tried and gave it a go for a mock self-tape.

I’m so glad that I turned up on that day, which was a pleasurable experience. He’s so kind, funny, and understanding how the actors’ community works. Definitely useful for me to know about all I have learnt.
